Rev. Jim Milley and his wife, Debbie, served as missionaries in Ethiopia for five years. During those years Jim watched the Ethiopian church double in size from 2 million to 4 million members. This growth wasn’t through trained clergy but through smaller groups of ordinary, working disciples. During this time of rapid church expansion, Jim helped train these new leaders across the country. Upon his return to the USA, Jim realized that, ironically, the church here lacked the tools and resources that were abundant in Ethiopia for supporting new leaders and new Christian communities. So, while working as Missions Pastor for 11 years at La Canada Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles, Jim, together with the congregation, birthed Bridges to find and equip missionaries to start new Christ-following communities for greater Los Angeles and beyond.
Jim received his M.Div. from Fuller Seminary and is currently completing a D.Min. at Fuller Seminary as well. Jim and his wife, Debbie, have 3 children. Rev. Milley is on the Board of Directors of Bridges, serves as a catalyst for the movement and as Executive Director of Bridges.
