Scott and Elmarie Parker

Revs. Scott and Elmarie Parker serve as Presbyterian Church (USA) workers in an area of the Middle East. They will lead a discussion regarding current conditions in the region where they work and live, along with how these conditions are impacting PCUSA Partners and their continuing work of worship and ministry. Though there is much over which to be deeply concerned, there are also stories of hope to be heard and shared. Bring your questions and come ready to hear the witness received first hand from local church leaders on the ground in these areas of conflict and chaos.

The Parkers began their current work with the Presbyterian Church (USA) in July 2013, moving to a location in the Middle East at the beginning of Advent, December, 2013. This is a call that takes up all the threads of their previous ministry and personal experiences, and is inviting them to step further into Christ’s work in the world. They have been married for 19 years. Together, they enjoy time with their nephews and niece, road trips, trying new foods, playing games, good movies and a variety of music. They have also enjoyed the company of feline fur kids since 2004. Born in Florida, Elmarie spent her toddler years in South Africa, and the remainder of her growing-up years on a Christmas tree farm in the rugged hills of Silverton, Oregon. Scott was born and raised in the suburbs of Omaha, Nebraska.
