We’re pleased to offer the 10th annual Santa Barbara Mission Conference, presented by the Presbytery of Santa Barbara and First Presbyterian Church of Santa Barbara.  After nine years as a one day Saturday conference, we are expanding to also include a Friday evening session.  The conference will be January 20-21, 2012, at First Presbyterian Church of Santa Barbara.

With the expansion to Friday evening we’re placing a greater emphasis on the college-aged and young adults.  Theater 3, the worship band from Paso Robles, will get the evening started, and plenary speaker Bethany Hoang of International Justice Mission will address the evils of human trafficking—and what’s being done.

We continue Saturday morning with more of the outstanding mission leadership that people have come to expect from our conference.  Roberta Hestenes will speak to this year’s theme, “Living the Word in Today’s World.”  She is past President, Eastern University and past Spiritual Director, World Vision International.  John Franke, our second speaker, is Theologian in Residence at Allentown (PA) First Presbyterian Church and General Coordinator of the Gospel in Our Culture Network (‘missional church’).  Hunter Farrell, Director of World Mission of PC(USA), will return to lead the Saturday morning worship and present a workshop with some of his Young Adult Volunteers.

The Saturday schedule includes 10 workshops covering a wide range of topics in local and global mission.

We encourage you to spend time at this website, register for the conference, and then join us January 20 and 21 in a great gathering for God’s mission.
