Tim Soerens

“Remembering the Body of Christ”

My talk will have 2 key points:

1) "You are the body of Christ. You must never forget this." --> this is higher calling than what we currently see out there. The local church is far more beautiful and important than we often name, in particular when we name the purpose of the church as joining in God's dreams for our places.

2) Given that it's so crucial we discern how to be and become the church in our everyday lives....What kind of people do we need to become, then, so we can rise up to the extent of this calling?

With entrepreneurs and activists in the room, we will focus partially on inward changes we need to make as we seek to make outward changes.

Tim Soerens is the co-founding director of the Parish Collective, a growing network and global movement of Christians “connecting to be the Church in the neighborhood.”

His latest book is called Everywhere You Look: Discovering the Church, Right Where You Are. His co-authored first book The New Parish: How Neighborhood Churches Transform Mission, Discipleship, and Community (Intervarsity Press, 2014) won multiple awards, including Christianity Today’s award of merit.

Tim has launched multiple sold-out conferences including the Inhabit Conference, New Parish Conference UK, and Conspire Gathering. He also co-founded Neighborhood Economics, a venture with the mission to recruit and convene the people repairing local economies.

A popular speaker, Tim speaks to a broad cross section of organizations and denominations in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. He lives in Chicago, IL with his wife Coté and three sons.
